1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am – video walk around

This 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is painted in Platinum and a Carmine red interior. Power comes from the mighty T/A 400 cubic inch four-barrel 6.6 Liter V8. Transmission is a 4-speed manual.

This is a second generation Firebird that ran from 1970 to 1981.  Styling in 1978 was not too different to the 1977 model which had just had a noticeable face-lift with the introduction of a much more aggressive front end and rectangular quad headlamps.

There were 93,341 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am models sold for 1978 at a base price of $5,799 - by far the bestselling Firebird model. Options on this car include; side body mouldings ($42), color-keyed custom belts ($22), Soft Ray glass ($59), door edge guards ($13), Hatch Roof ($625), Hood decal ($66), floor mats front and rear ($23), stowaway spare tire ($26), tilt steering wheel ($72), Trans Am Special Performance Package ($251), Custom Velor Trim ($134). The original buyer also opted for the T/A 400 6.6 liter 4-barrel V8 engine upgrade at $75. This W72, rather than the standard 6.6 liter (L78), means that this is one of 8,251 cars. 63,812 were produced of the L78 version.
