1966 saw the GTO become a separate series rather than an option on the Tempest LeMans. This 1966 Pontiac GTO Convertible is presented here in Montero Red with Parchment interior and is powered by a 389 cubic inch V8 with 4 barrel carb. It is equipped with power steering and power brakes with an automatic transmission.
GTOs were equipped with everything that the LeMans had with the addition of a more powerful engine, walnut dash panel inserts, heavy duty shock absorbers and a dual exhaust.
The GTO convertible (body style number 24267) had a factory base price of $3082 for 1966 – Pontiac produced 12,798 of them with a total of 96,946 units across all three body styles. This car is fitted with air conditioning which was a $343 option.
