With a major reworking for 1954, Oldsmobiles saw just a modest facelift for 1955. They received a new combined bumper and grille and new side moldings and taillights. The headlamps were now hooded and the Oldsmobile globe emblem was now the center piece for the front of the hood.
The color scheme continues on into the car with two-tone turquoise cloth and white vinyl seating that has been replaced more recently.
"Holiday" was the marketing name Oldsmobile gave to their cars that had received the pillarless treatment. Previously reserved for only their coupes, 1955 saw them also offer these slick looks to a 4-door version which proved a hit with the public.
The Eighty-Eight has a wheelbase of 122" and an overall length of 203.4".
