Here we have a 1953 Oldsmobile Super Eighty Eight four-door hardtop with a 303 cubic inch "Rocket" V8. We can recognise the "Super" over the "Deluxe" by the addition of extra trim on the rear quarters. The engine also gave out slightly more horsepower with 165 hp instead of 150 hp. Paint on the car is Polar White over Acacia Blue.
This particular car is fitted with the optional Hydra-Matic Super Drive automatic transmission. The "Super" position was designed for mountainous roads of quick bursts of acceleration.
Oldsmobile produced 119,317 four-door hardtops for 1953 with a base price of $2252. This was by far the most popular body style on this model. The Hydra-Matic Super Transmission was an additional $132. This car is also fitted with power steering - a $165 option at the time. A Padded dash at $15 was also fitted.
