This 1959 Desoto Firesweep Sportsman 2-door looks stunning in White over Flamingo Pink with Gray interior. It is powered by a 361 cubic inch V8 (5.9L) with push-button automatic transmission – and the car has only 53,000 actual miles on the odometer!
Air scoops were the in thing in 1959 and DeSoto’s had three of them. A full length one at the bottom of the bumper and two more above that, either side of the license plate indentation. Another characteristic is the double bumper at the rear of the car, with “beauty panel” between the top and bottom members.
DeSoto produced 5,481 2 door Sportsmans for the 1959 model year. This was also the last year for convertibles and station wagons.
Sadly DeSoto was to come to an end just 2 years later, literally 47 days after the 1961 specification models were introduced.
