1957 Chevy Nomad Restomod – Corvette LS2 Motor

While some people enjoy a quality restoration that keeps everything true to the original specification of the car, others like to make subtle (or not so subtle) changes that are still sympathetic to the original look of the car but adding a variety of modern touches. This, in turn, can bring more performance and more safety into the mix.

Here’s a great example of a restored 57 Chevy Nomad that has had some tasteful restomod treatment.

Painted in “Scarlet Red” and sure to draw attention there is little, apart from the wheels, to say this isn’t a stock Nomad.

Even from the rear things look pretty much stock. This Nomad still has the same generous cargo area it’s just you can haul your stuff that much faster now…

Probe a little deeper and you’ll see there is certainly more to the eye.

It is under the hood is where the real magic is hidden – a 400 horsepower Corvette 6 liter LS2 V8 engine paired with a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission.

Mechanically the brake system has also been changed to power assisted disc brakes front and rear. It also has modern power steering and Vintage air, an old style but modern, air conditioning and heating system.

Inside, the interior has been tastefully brought up-to-date while respecting the original look and feel. It’s taken the already top-of-the-line station wagon to the next level.

So, how would you restore an old Nomad? Completely faithful to the original specification or by taking it to the next level with more modern features and even better performance?
