1953 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport Coupe – Video Walkaround

Here we have a beautiful 1953 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-door Sport Coupe with Root Beer over Butterscotch paint and brown interior. Power comes from a 235 cubic inch inline six engine and 3-speed manual transmission (three on a tree).

For 1953 we saw three series in the passenger car line-up. The Special 150, Deluxe 210 and Bel Air with the latter having the top level of trim. It was the first year using a one-piece windshield, although we had to wait until 1955 to get a wraparound one.

The brochure that year told us, โ€œThe new 1953 Chevrolet is one of the greatest advances ever presented to the American public. From the new and stronger Fisher Body Unisteel construction, through engine, and rear axle, this all-new Chevrolet is the mightiest, most powerful yet built.โ€

The base price for the Bel Air 2-door Sport Coupe was $2051 and 99,047 were produced. Chevrolet produced sold 1,356,413 cars during the โ€™53 model year.
