1965 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport

Mid-sixties Impalas are really popular and none more so that the SS version. This numbers matching 1965 Chevrolet Impala SS two-door Sport Coupe, really looks great painted in silver and is in great condition having been the subject of a detailed restoration.

With a full redesign for 1965, this was the fifth generation Impala and were the largest Chevrolet models to date.

To the rear the familiar triple unit taillights of the Impala are present with the SS black-filled rear cove band with Impala SS badge to the right.

In 1965 the SS was still a trim package and not a performance package in itself (that happened in 1966). It could even be had with a Turbo-Thrift 230 cubic inch six-cylinder.

The base V8 was a 283 cubic inch Turbo-Fire producing 195 horsepower and cost a further $107. This car however, is equipped with a L78 396 cubic inch V8 that outputs 425 horsepower the more powerful of the two 396 engines available (the other outputs 325 hp).

Other options on this car include; 4-speed manual transmission and AM radio.

The all-vinyl trim of the SS interior with thick foam cushioning bucket seats and bright seatback outline moldings. Doors are combination vinyl and carpet with SS badges.

Impalas are 213.3″ long with a wheelbase of 119″ and are 79.6″ wide.

There were 216,114 Chevrolet Impala SS 2-door Sport Coupes were built, although this figure includes both 6-cylinder and V8 engines.

If you had ordered 1965 Impala SS Sport Coupe back then the base price was $2,780 for the six-cylinder and $2,887 for the base V8.
