This is a stunning 1964 Chevrolet Impala Hardtop Sport Coupe in Silver Blue metallic paint with blue vinyl and cloth interior. It’s equipped with a 327 cubic inch Turbo Fire V8 with 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission.
The Impala was the second most expensive line for Chevrolet in 1964 with the Impala Super Sport taking the title of the most luxurious and sporty model.
This car is fitted with Deluxe air conditioning which was a $317 option back in 1964. Another option we see on this car is the wire wheel covers, also known as spinner caps and originally cost $43.
There is plenty of bright-work on the exterior and a nice touch is the petrol filler cap surround, actually designed to protect the paint from the nozzle when filling with gas.
There are no production figures for this exact model as Chevrolet only recorded body style numbers across all models. However, a total of 442,292 Sport Coupes were made.
My first car was the ’63 Impala SS with factory 4sp, tachometer & A/C She had the 327/300 hp engine and I added an 8 track tape player under the dash… I bought my 2dr in “66 and paid less than $2,000 …. I had to sell this beauty when I left for the Navy in late “66….. this ’64 reminds me so much of my ’63…. <3
thanks for the video
I had a ’64 convertible SS. It was blacck with a white top and red interior. Had the 327 turbo Fire 300 hp with the Borg Warner 4sp tranny. 3:73 gears fron the factory with positraction. I later put in a set of 4:11 gears and could melt the tires off the rims. I too had to sell mine when I went in the Army. Sure wish I had it today yet. Loved that car.
Thanks for sharing Dickie. It’s amazing how many people look back with fondness to the car they had to sell before going into the army – we hear it quite a bit. Yours certainly sounded a great car!
Thay called those trannys the slip and slide power glide . 4speed or turbo 350 for me great cars.
