Check out this Chevy Impala 2-door Sport Coupe from 1960 fitted with a 348 cubic inch V8. It is in Horizon Blue with a blue cloth & vinyl interior.
Impala was top-of-the-line for 1960 and was a very dressy car from end to end. It had all of the standard equipment of the Bel Air but also benefitted with back-up lights, anodized aluminum trim, an electric clock and an illuminated glove compartment.
Impalas also featured an arrow moulding (jet-plane style) on the rear quarter with dual chrome strips running towards the rear of the car. Between them was a white insert with "Impala" script and crossed racing flags. These crossed flags also appear in the chrome rear speaker grille mounted in the upper middle of the rear seat and on the trunk lid.
There were 204,467 Impala Sport Coupes produced in '60.
This is a beautiful car.love the design and craftsmanship. My dad had a 59.love the wing car. Great job..
I had a ’60 Parkwood wagon back in the 70’s. Unfortunately I was t-boned in it around 1976. Still loved it and my first car, ’59 Bel-Aire 2 door.
The car is absolutely gorgeous. Original down to so many fine details. So why would you ever put white tail light lenses aren’t?
Not sure Tom. Different people have their own preferences. Could be worse 😉
Stunning! I had a white/red one like this back in the day. I always liked the sixty better than the fifty nine because it was understated, not overstated. This car is really nice because it isn’t over restored, but instead, it is period correct. Really great job! Cudos to the restorer. NICE
Why does it have white tailight lenses?
It has received very mild customization
Did they have alternators in 1960? Think it may have come from the factory with a generator. Wonder if the 3 carb option on the 348 was available in 1960. I know it was in 1958. If you were to own this car down in South West Texas you wouldn’t drive it in the summer time without A.C. It is a beautiful 1960 Impala though. A few small niggley things would make it perfect..
The 60 Impala is one of my favorites. This is an amazing restoration. I have a 67 Impala Sport Coupe in restorationat present. Hope to have mine looking this good.
There were 2 tri-power engines in ’60. 280 HP with 9.5 compression and hydraulic lifters, and 335 with 11.25(???) compression and a 5800 red line high lift solid lifter cam.
I have had about 6 1960 Chevys all together. 2 wagons, a 4 door sedan, a 4 door hardtop, a 2 deoor sedan and a white Impala 2 door hardtop with Tasco Turquoise stripe and turquoise interior, 348,335 4 speed.
