Here we have a beautiful 1959 Chevrolet Biscayne 4-door sedan in Cameo Coral and Satin Beige and is powered by a 283 cubic inch V8. Power steering is also fitted – a $75 option back in the day.
The interior is Gray cloth and vinyl. The car was made in Kansas City, MO.
Introduced in 1958, the Biscayne sat at the bottom end of the Chevrolet line-up under the Bel Air and Impala, but that’s not to say they didn’t look great! Primarily intended for the fleet market they were offered as a cheaper, no frills option. Standard features were rear foam cushions and electric wipers! For a base sedan they certainly had plenty of style.
Chevrolet didn’t keep any records of total numbers per model, only body style. There were 525,461 four-door sedans made for the 1959 model year. Base price for the V8 Biscayne was $2419.
Why so loud? Exhaust shouldn’t be roaring like that.
Sometimes it can be that the camera mic can pick up things very different to how we hear them (depending where it is positioned). And, I guess, some people like loud mufflers.
The half horn ring is upside down. Should be in the lower part of the steering wheel.
Love the plain Janers when they dress them just a little with period correct accessories. I actually like the exhaust note!
My grandparents bought one new, same color, after their Packard suffered a cracked block. At the time the dealer gave them the choice of 3 -59’s (all that they had left!) but when they left the lot with their purchase a wrong turn circled them around back and my grandpa said ‘they had dozens left’. ’59 was not Chevys best. I miss them–the car not so much.
