Here we have a 1962 Cadillac Series 62 Four-Window Sedan in Ebony. It is powered by a 390 cubic inch V8 (6.4 liters) with Hydra-Matic Drive automatic transmission.
This car is all-original apart from one re-paint many years ago and has 70,000 original miles on the clock.
The Series 62 was an entry level Cadillac but, let's face it, it's a Cadillac. You still had power brakes, power windows, automatic transmission, fender skirts and a host of other accessories as standard.
Cadillac described their 1962 range as a 'genuinely new achievement in automotive excellence' and the 'car of cars'
This car has an Autotronic Eye option fitted. Basically this was a very early automatic headlight dimmer that reacted to oncoming traffic - a $46 option on this car. Power seats weren't standard on the 62 Series Coupe and Sedans so this 6-way power seat would have cost around $85 to $113 as an option.
Cadillac made 17,314 four-window Sedans for the 1962 model year, costing $5213. The six-window Sedan was the same price and a matter of preference, offering more visibility and less privacy. Cadillac sold 16,730 of them.
